I want talk about new music, and you're the only one interested in doing so.
Have you heard the new Son Lux single Lost It To Trying ?
What do you think? I think this is honestly the most epic new music I have ever heard. It's very, very original. And combining the orchestration, the chorus, and the electronics just makes it nearly perfect.

I have not. Am grabbing headphones now and will have initial thoughts in a few moments.

I may have to check this group out. Maybe not a huge fan of the vocals (too typical) but the mix of instrumentation is very nice.

I'm with you. The vox are... not catching my attention at all. but the wild instrumentation and almost freeform approach to the chaos are fun to listen to.
I am curious about them, I wasn't driven to buy their release based on this one listen.
(As I did with MS MR, Washed Out, the latest SPC ECO EP, the last Joy Formidable, and Hammock's Departure Songs).

I commented on TO's reply to you. It's really interesting, but it didn't GRAB me the same way that others have.

Heh. I remember listening to a Washed Out song with a friend, and I commented that "Is this a shitty rip or something? The quality seems really..."
"Washed out?"
"...dammit."

I'm not completely convinced on the vocals, but the rest is just amazing to listen. I will put a reminder to search more about this tomorrow (Algebra final in the next hour).

Hmm...
Well, I had hoped you'd be more impressed. Oh well.
Other than NIN, you have any more suggestions for some cool new tunes?
Have you heard Chvrches; Lungs ?

I have. And I was quite impressed with it. Newer music? I'll admit that I've been OD'ing on NIN recently and am super excited for the new Hammock that comes out next month (it seriously appeals to the shoegaze geek in me).
The new Bombay Dub Orchestra is pretty nice, if you like that kind of thing. Hmmm... last album I bought was that, and before that it was the Deltron album.
As an aside, I'm really picky when it comes to vocals. And I definitely have a 'type.'

It's not new, but have you heard anything from The Cinematic Orchestra?
Their albums Every Day and Man With A Movie Camera in particular are two of my absolute favorites. They have yet to every feel old, even though I constantly listen to them.
They also have their Live At The Royal Albert Hall , which is amazing for a live jazz concert.
